Birth planning for doulas, from the current evidence

Birth planning is one of the strongest tools in doula practice, and almost nobody teaches it from the current evidence. This class answers the questions doulas actually have:

  • What does the research say about birth plans?
  • What happens to the plan at a nurse change?
  • What do I say when my client and their provider see the birth differently?
  • How do I offer this as a paid session?

The research includes a randomized trial published in 2023 with 300 pregnant people in Tehran: 81.9 percent of the birth plan group had a vaginal birth, compared with 48.7 percent of the group without one. That's a single trial, so treat it as one piece of the picture.

Thank you for speaking so clearly. I have taken quite a few workshops that I did not finish because every other sentence from the presenter was "Umm" or "Uhh."

One session, two ways to use it

Offer birth planning as part of your services for clients, or as a low-cost first step for families who haven't hired you yet. The class covers how those two sessions differ.
